Traditional warba music of the Mossi, in Burkina Faso

(Check out the two guys as they synchronize their movements around 2:50 into the clip.) For some info on warba, click here. Everyone in Burkina Faso is also perfectly aware that there are tensions and opportunities as traditional dance becomes commercialized, through formal competitions, shows, entertainment for pay, tourism, etc. So as you think about how traditional culture interacts with globalization, start off by crediting the local actors with agency- globalization and commercialization of culture are not processes happening *to* them, but processes they participate in as actors. For example, check out this site on a warba competition and performance in Zorgho, Burkina Faso.
